LIMEDROP INTERVIEW: Fiona Simmons
Today Limedrop had the pleasure of speaking with Fiona Simmons. Q&A with Fiona Simmons. Who you are? What do you do/ believe in? I am Fiona Simmons, I make all kinds of things - drawings, ceramics, jewellery- you name it, i want to make it. What your top two tips in making? Always make more- its good for you. Productivity comes from positivity, so i try and drop the ego and make things that make me feel good. What is something that you thought was impossible and is now possible? I went away once, 2012, I knew it was the right thing to do at the time, but for no reason at all. I got a one way ticket to the states and decided I needed to become the person I wanted to be. I ended up in LA, SF and NYC (with a strange trip to Sweden in the middle that was incredibly eye opening). I found an artist in NYC that I liked who was doing a cool project I wanted to know more about, asked if i could interview him, Mike Perry, and he said yes for no reason. We met, I asked if I could help with his new project and some how over time became the co-producer of the Wondering Around Wandering Exhibition in Crown Heights Brooklyn. I met people who believed in me, who gave me room to grow and be myself. I met a neighborhood that embraced me. I would never have expected to feel like I fit in at all in a city like NYC, but they understood my work ethic and were into it. Sounds so trite but I found my true self there (every real and ugly and cool parts of myself), and managed to bring it back to Melbourne with me. Now I work harder than ever to make in all of my time- because its what makes me happy, it makes me whole and its everything I want to do all the time! Not so much a story of impossible to possible but unexpected to real life!

I am going to be cheeky and add in one more thing which is so important - having fun! What is something that you never thought would be possible that is now possible? My number one dream was to be a photographer. I have always dreamed of being a photographer and I still pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming. I never thought I would be in the position to do something that I love while financially supporting myself. I love photography so much that I even shoot on my days off just because. Now that's true love. <3

LIMEDROP INTERVIEW: Jade Leung
Today Limedrop had the pleasure of speaking with Jade Leung. Q&A with Jade. Who you are? What do you do/ believe in? I am a freelance fashion stylist named Jade Rose Tuk Ting Leung. I believe that working hard and indulging in excess are the best thing since anything. Ever!! Life can't be all work and no play. What are your top two tips in putting together the perfect outfit? Be aware of what your body physically looks like in certain shapes, fabrics and colours. Obviously if you have lumps and bumps, maybe don't go for the neon clingy bandage dress..... Pay attention to Proportion and creating silhouettes that you are comfortable in rather then just following trends. If you don't feel good or comfortable in an outfit, chances are you generally won't look it either. What is something that you never thought would be possible that is now possible? Persistence, determination and sometimes reaching for the stars can eventually pay off!! In a great way! For example; I have finally stopped going red when I drink.... and for all the off days that i still do, I have learned about the alternate benefits of antihistamine. LIMEDROP INTERVIEW: Kristoffer Paulsen
Today, Limedrop had the pleasure of speaking with the charismatic photographer, Kristoffer Paulsen. Q&A with Kristoffer Paulsen. Who you are? What do you do/ believe in? I'm Kristoffer. I do a lot of things. I'm very lucky to be able to say that for work I'm professional photographer. I do my share of bill paying jobs, but for the most part, my work is my hobby. My other hobby is guitars and making loud noises. I just bought a new guitar tonight. It looks like it's been owned by someone who plays hard. I like that. It's red and has a matching red headstock. Just like that bloke from the Drones. What your top two tips in capturing a moment?I hate people that go on holidays or whatever and spend their whole time walking around with pro level cameras taking photos the whole time. I believe in being in the moment. If you're in the moment, then the moment will give itself to you. If you're always trying to "take" photos, then you'll miss the experience. If you just live, then you'll have rich experiences, and then moments will just happen, and if you want to take a photo, then chances are it'll happen naturally. I'm not the kinda guy that takes his camera everywhere. I'm either in photo mode, or I'm not. I find it hard to just have a camera in my bag and remember to get it out. It's either on or it's off. It's not really a passive brain thing. What is something that you never thought would be possible that is now possible? Three years ago I never would have thought I'd be able to make a living off photography. I thought I was heading towards being a tour manager/sound guy for the rest of my life. (And it depressed the shit out of me). I feel perpetually grateful. Visit his website at http://kristofferpaulsen.com/

We are Kip & Co! A boutique Australian bedding and lifestyle brand. What do you do/ believe in? We believe that good things happen when you break with tradition - try something a little out of the ordinary in your bedding and you might just find that you’ve made yourself a happy little sanctuary to dream in. What your top two tips in creating the perfect living space? 1. Be eclectic - there is nothing better than a room where every piece takes you back to a different memory, friend, country or flea market 2. Natural light - priceless ;) What is something that you thought was impossible and is now possible? Running our own business! Every day is an absolute blessing xx Check out Kip & Co's website at http://kipandco.net.au/

I am a Curator of Fashion and Textiles at the National Gallery of Victoria. I believe fashion has the ability to tell us about ourselves. What your top two tips in putting together the perfect exhibition? 1. Thorough historical research, because it tells you about the objects you are displaying and because really interesting ideas often come from the objects themselves. 2. Having a thesis or argument to communicate through your selection and presentation of objects. What is something that you never thought would be possible that is now possible? That I would be a curator of the forthcoming exhibition, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk, especially when Mr Gaultier said he would never do an exhibition. But he has!

LIMEDROP INTERVIEW: Annie Habbot
Today Limedrop had the pleasure of speaking with the energetic founder and designer of Habbot shoes Q&A with Annie Habbot. Who you are? What do you do/ believe in? I run a women’s shoe company called ‘habbot’ out of my Armadale studio which is situated behind one of my 2 stores. My favourite part of my business is definitely pulling each shoe collection together starting with research and colour choices in my Melbourne office, right through to the production phase that takes place in two workrooms in Italy. I work across all aspects of the business which means I never get as much design time as I’d like, but as the business grows I’m handing over some of the operational aspects to others which is strange, but wonderful! I believe in brave colour choices! What are your top two tips for choosing great quality shoes? 1. If you see a shoe that jumps out from the store shelf and ‘talks’ to you then buy it immediately. If you love the colour and shape you will find ways to work it into your wardrobe and life is too short for boring shoes! 2. You can’t fake good shoes. The devil is in the detail with shoe making so look out for neat seams, hand pin punching, precise edge treatments, symmetry, and balance. 3. Check that the lining is good quality leather – your feet are surrounded by it all day long and will let you know if you’ve got it wrong! 4. Check the balance of the shoe on the side. If the heel and ball don’t both sit flat on the shelf then the balance is off and won’t wear well. I see this so often in shoes stores it amazes me. What is something that you never thought would be possible that is now possible? To see complete strangers in the street wearing my shoes. I still want to go up and hug them!

LIMEDROP INTERVIEW: Miso
Today Limedrop had the pleasure of speaking with Stanislava the inspiring artist who goes under the name Miso. Q&A with Stanislava Pinchuk. Who you are? What do you do/ believe in? My name is Stanislava - I'm an artist, doing all sorts of things.I'm a big believer in smart cities and good public spaces - so while I'm an artist, I'm secretly a really frustrated architect. What your top two tips in putting together the perfect exhibition? My first tip is that my favourite shows are usually the ones where the work has some space to breathe; that pace the hanging really confidently, instead of jamming too many works in. The second is to invite lots of pets to come to the opening. What is something that you never thought would be possible that is now possible? 3D printing! It still feels like some kind of weird voodoo to me.

LIMEDROP INTERVIEW: Kitiya Palaskas
Today we had the pleasure of chatting with colourful crafter Kitiya Palaskas, we think her work is simply splendid! Q&A with Kitiya Palakas. Who are you? What do you do/ believe in? My name is Kit and I'm a craft-based designer. I believe in always embracing colour, wearing patterns on patterns, never forgetting to be playful even when you're an adult, working super hard, and always staying true to who you are. What are your top two tips for getting creative? 1. Turn your computer off and look for inspiration in things found in every day life - for me these it's old op-shop books, street art, beautiful flowers, intricate pastries, and people's outfits to name a few. I also look for colours, textures, shapes and patterns everywhere I go and document everything on my camera. 2. Create the ultimate studio soundtrack! My playlist includes anything/everything by Fleetwood Mac, old tropical calypso tunes, and lots and lots of 90s RnB. What is something that you never thought would be possible that is now possible? That I could make a living from doing craft! Sometimes I'll be in my studio, doing something so random - like sewing a life-size silver unicorn head - and I'll have to stop for a second because my mind is being blown that this is my job. I feel lucky that I had the chance to try my hand at being what I wanna be and doing what I wanna do. Not everyone in this world gets that chance so I am very grateful. Also, THE INTERNET! Once I heard my grandma say it was "magic" and I would have to wholeheartedly agree with her there, because it is amazing. Check out Kit's work here http://kitiyapalaskas.com

We believe that anything is possible you just have to believe in your vision and go out and make it happen. What are your top two tip in pursuing your dreams? 1. Hustle Hustle Hustle- Pursuing your dreams can be really hard, but you gotta keep going, you gotta keep hustling. LIMEDROP INTERVIEW: Andrzej Nowicki
Today, Limedrop had the pleasure of speaking with Andrzej Nowicki. Q&A with Andrzej Nowicki. Who are you/what do you do? I am Andrzei, a collage artist and drawing teacher, I run the grey eye society which is a drawing club were wine appreciation is matched with drawing lessons. I try to enlist all of my students senses to help them learn about drawing and wine topics which I feel are individually hard to tackle but in partnership become easier to comprehend. What do you believe in? I believe that the world can be understood through one's intuitions and everything does not need to be labelled or counted in order for it to be understood...this is probably why I barely made it through school. What are your top two tips for drawing and or drinking? For drawing, sketch alot, don't erase and treat your sketches as quick visual hits of information. Draw quickly rather then labour on one sketch for a huge amount of time. Instead of making too many corrections jump to a new page and make a new sketch. Always look at your sketches the nest day and memorize what you think you could have improved, remember these thoughts when you draw again and you will improve. In drinking wine well if you are a beginner and you don't know what to pick at the store first find a bottle that has a great label, the people who make the wine have a voice in the work that goes into the label and if you like their label choices then its very likely that you will like their wine making. What is something that you thought was impossible and is now possible? I have always struggled with learning and I think that through becoming a teacher I have become a better a better learner.

Today, Limedrop had the pleasuring of speaking with Alexandra Kovac the Industrial designer / Fashion designer / and other stuff. Q&A with Alexandra Kovac. Who you are? What do you do/ believe in? Most days- I am a product design engineer. People come into my work with crazy ideas (and money) and we make their ideas into products for them. The other days- I run a fashion label called Oracles...mainly for the love of it. The afternoons- I like to run a lot. So i go for nice long runs in the afternoons to clear my head. The night times- I am in a DJ duo called Rainbow Connection. We do DJ sets around the place, or hang out and prepare for the next DJ set and eat pizza. I believe in Cats and rainbows. My two lifelong loves. What are you two top marathon tips? 1. Being hung over isn't an excuse to not go running. It actually makes you feel so much better when you do! 2. Things don't just become a success in a week...I didn't know how things were going to turn out starting a label whilst still working full time, but slowly, slowly, success will gradually creep up on you if you stick it out! Appropriate for your line of work and that makes you feel great (i.e professional and fabulous)- see what I did there? :) What is something that you never thought would be possible that is now possible? Crowdfunding. I remember that back in the day I'd sit around with friends and talk about our ideas for things we'd like to do, 'If only we had money'. Now with crowdfunding we can pop those ideas up online and see if anyone else like the idea enough to invest in it- and if the idea catches on, we can go make out big idea happen! I always had a dream of one day writing a book and I still pinch myself that I was able to use crowdfunding platform, Pozible, to raise the funds I needed to self-publish my book, The Little Black Dress Project, that shows 52 different way of styling a Little Black Dress for work. No one will mind spinning around into the nicer light once they see what a difference it makes in the picture. If your getting your picture taken- try not to go into default peace sign (I'm guilty of this too) and the angles you think are most flattering. Just let your lovely face be your lovely face!
